Happy December, Pawmetto Parents!

This will be our final Pawmetto Parents newsletter of 2025 — but don’t worry, we’ll be back in January with our usual lineup of dog-friendly events, spots, and updates around the Lowcountry! To wrap up the year, we have an awesome list of events happening all around town to help you and your pup make the most of December.

Thank you so much for subscribing and following along as we spotlight all the great things happening in our community for pets and their people. When my sister first pitched the idea of a Pawmetto spin-off of Palmetto Parents, I’ll admit—I laughed. But the more pet-friendly restaurants, events, and shops I came across, the more I realized: this needed to exist.

Just like our other newsletters, our goal is simple — to give you quick, helpful access to all the fun and dog-friendly happenings around town, without the need to dig through the internet. We hope you’ve enjoyed following along this fall, and we can’t wait to keep sharing the best of the Lowcountry with fellow pet parents in 2026.

If you’ve loved Pawmetto Parents, we’d be so grateful if you shared it with fellow pet parent and leave us a comment on the newsletter!

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! 🎄🐾

Our festive pup Lacey.

Downward Dog Puppy Yoga

Instagram post

If you love to ooh and aww over puppies (but know your house is already at full dog capacity), there’s a new way to get your puppy fix — no commitment required!

Introducing Downward Dog Puppy Yoga, a unique yoga studio offering a fun, feel-good experience for all levels of yogis… followed by the best part: a puppy snuggle session.

Each 75-minute class includes a 45-minute yoga session (suitable for all experience levels), followed by 30 minutes of puppy cuddles. You can choose between two types of sessions:

🐾 Energetic Puppy Yoga – These morning sessions (9:30am & 11:15am) feature pups who are full of energy and ready to play.

🐾 Sleepy Puppy Yoga – These afternoon classes (1:00pm & 2:45pm) are perfect for anyone who prefers a calm, cuddly experience with pups winding down for the day.

All puppies are healthy, cleared, and come from local shelters or verified breeders. It's a heartwarming way to support pups and de-stress at the same time.

Sessions take place every Saturday and Sunday and cost $69.50. Gift cards are also available — perfect for the yoga or puppy lover in your life. You can use the code BLACK FRIDAY to get $20 off your class until the end of the week!

Custom Created by Jess

If you’re looking for a thoughtful gift for another dog parent, look no further than Custom Created by Jess! This local mom has an Etsy shop where she sells unique and customized goods, and adorable ornaments so your dog has a place on your tree! She made a cute ornament for our dog, Lacey, and I asked for all the pink and glitter to celebrate the only other girl beyond me in the home. Her family recently lost their beloved German Shepard, Riley, so she made an ornament to remember her by each Christmas. Check our her dog ornaments on her Etsy site and if you’re local and want to do pick up, you can use the code LOCALSUMMERVILLE to forgo the shipping fees!

Simple Treasures

If you’ve walked around downtown Summerville lately, chances are you’ve passed Simple Treasures, the cute little sweets shop that shares a space with Nailed It DIY Studio right off Hutchinson Square (116 S Main Street). And if you haven’t popped in yet — you’re missing out on a whole lot of fun treats... for you and your dog!

Simple Treasures has become one of our go-to spots when we’re downtown with the kids or just in the mood for a pick-me-up. Their shop is stocked with an ever-changing wall of flavored popcorn, handmade chocolates and ice cream, and classic candy that feels a little nostalgic and a lot delicious.

One of the things that sets them apart is their dog treats. These aren’t your average dog biscuits. They’re festive and elaborately decorated—they’re so cute that our kids have asked more than once if they could pick one out for themselves (and we can’t blame them — they really do look that good!).

Made without grains, these treats are a great option for dogs with dietary sensitivities, and they're displayed in-store to make them easy to browse. Whether you're grabbing a few as stocking stuffers for your pup or picking up a themed treat for a special occasion, there’s always something seasonal and fun.

So next time you're wandering through Summerville, add Simple Treasures to your list — for a bag of popcorn, an ice cream, a chocolate or two, and definitely a dog biscuit that’ll make your pup’s day.
